I  may have fallen into the wedding industry by accident, but I always knew I was meant to be a creative force in this world.

Ever since I can remember, I have been obsessed with perfecting my penmanship. With a landscape architect mother and a Mason for a father, my day to day handwriting has turned out to be a variation of the classic all-caps style found in blueprints. Cursive and calligraphy always fascinated me as well and became a passion as I grew older. I received a Bachelor's of Fine Arts with a concentration in Printmaking from Kennesaw State University in 2012. Making a living as an artist wasn't fully realized right out of college, but by 2015, an opportunity presented itself that changed my life forever.

I have been a professional calligrapher and artist since 2015, with experience in the events industry going back to 2012.  I understand the practical applications of calligraphy and signage at an event because of my venue management and catering background. I have seen first hand how guests interact with these beautiful pieces the day of an event or wedding. I understand the nature of event planning and always strive to provide excellent customer service in a timely manner. My mission is to create unique, romantic, handmade goods that are functional but also memorable. I am told I am easy to work with and hope to provide that same level of service to all orders, big and small.

With the opening of American Spirit Works in Atlanta, Georgia, I was in the right place at the right time to become the first chalkboard artist to grace the back bar chalkboard wall of The Stave Room at American Spirit Works . Since 2015 I have created and executed almost 200 chalkboard designs for weddings and events hosted in the spectacular industrial event space. I have to give credit to Wendy Collins and The Chasteen Family for lifting me up as an artist and a small businesswoman. I am forever grateful to have gotten my start because of the faith these people had in me.

My business began to grow once the need for signage and other calligraphy items became apparent, where a client base including some of Atlanta's most talented planners, florists, designers, and event professionals was built. It is still so humbling to be among this group of amazing "eventrepeneurs" who I not only get to work with but be friends with as well.

"A rising tide lifts all boats" - one of my favorite business mantras that certainly rings true in Atlanta.

My business is called Kate Turner Studio, but my friends call me Katie. In my free time I enjoy hiking, photography, traveling, skiing and fly fishing with my favorite people. Check out my Instagram to see updates on my artwork, travels, and passion for beautiful writing.

But enough about me. I would love to hear more about you and your upcoming wedding or event
